Ellie Swanson graduated with a degree in Studio Art from the University of Vermont in 2021. She discovered letterpress printmaking after she graduated from UVM, during a workshop at Penland School of Craft, where she was a work-study student in 2022. Since then, letterpress printmaking has become Ellie’s primary craft form.

Ellie enjoys making interactive, whimsical pieces that present fantastical narratives. Her inspiration comes largely from folktales and her surrounding environment. A large portion of her iconography is taken directly from the rural & coastal Rhode Island landscape she was raised in.
